BOND360 Empowers Filmmakers To Sell Films and Related Products Directly To Their Fans

BOND Strategy and Influence, one of the leading strategy and marketing firms for independent cinema, announced the creation of BOND360, a new initiative that provides strategic consultation, marketing, public relations, financing, and technical support to help filmmakers connect their films and related products directly with fans.

BOND360 will have immediate access to a staff of twenty seasoned publicists, designers, programmers, project managers and strategists who have seen tremendous success with breakthrough digital campaigns for films such as the Academy Award®-nominated Exit Through the Gift Shop, SENNA, and The Imposter. Bond 360 will work closely with filmmakers to build and nurture digital communities and sell films and merchandise directly to fans through in-person events and on the films’ websites.

"As digital technologies continue to disrupt the traditional means of distribution, filmmakers are becoming a lot more entrepreneurial and are seeking alternatives that give them more control and ownership," said Marc Schiller, CEO of BOND Strategy and Influence. BOND360 was created to address these new challenges of the shifting film landscape by providing the resources, expertise and funding to help filmmakers successfully market, promote, and release their films independently.

BOND360 will work with filmmakers to launch in-person tours of their films supported by brand sponsors. Digital and physical products (i.e. books, t-shirts, and limited edition prints) will be offered for sale alongside the film both at events and through the film’s website.  "BOND360 was developed to provide the necessary resources to allow an independent film to realize its marketplace potential," says Schiller.

The key tenets of the BOND360 model are:

1. Filmmakers retain copyrights to their films and products
2. Providing filmmakers with control of their communities and data
2. Prioritizing the most profitable distribution windows
3. Involving and consulting with filmmakers on all creative and business decisions

“Each year there are high quality, engaging films with extremely large, active digital communities. For many of these films, the traditional model no longer makes sense,” Schiller explains. “BOND360 won't be competing with the traditional distributors. In many cases, they will be our partners and continue to be clients of our agency."

"I learned from working closely with filmmakers like Edward Burns and Banksy that core fans want a more direct connection to films and filmmakers,” said Schiller. “Filmmakers are now realizing, as musicians did years ago, that the key to their success lies in having a direct communication with their community year round rather than “film by film.”
